Hello Stevo:
You could run, but you really couldn’t hide, could you? It was only a matter of time before you went somewhere we could find you. Hahahaaa. Who’s laughing now? Enjoy!

Snow

Yeah, it’s snowing. My trip to London is in doubt. The February 2009 London Snow Storm leaves my journey to the capital, and my return to China, in doubt. It isn’t even a lot of snow, but a few inches. But Brits aren’t hardy Canadians. ‘Nuff said.
I’ve done what any China-based Canadian Expat would do in a similar situation. At Tesco I bought foot-long hot dogs, buns, and beer (King Cobra, not regular Cobra Beer). I intend the sleep away the morning and hope my bus ticket for later this afternoon is usable. I don’t want to rebook, or change my hostel reservation.
Alas, the life of a traveler.

I lost touch with your site and some others, sadly, when I lost all my sidebar data. I tried to refind your site, though I see the name is easy to remember now, at blog catalogs but they changed their system there and I can not make heads or tails of my favorites now. I remember we exchanged some mails and got your site URL from there. Sound like you’re having a strange adventure in England. Welcome back to China when you eventually make it.

You say we ain’t hardy: we say we don’t care – we’re too busy skipping work, building snowmen and having snowball fights.

Hot dogs? You went to England to eat HOT DOGS?? That’s just so wrong, Stevo. . . on so many many levels.
Geoff — DUCK!

Last night I was chatting with a friend who lives in London and she was complaining about the snow. She’s wimpy about such things so I didn’t think much of it until I checked out the footage on the BBC website.
Good luck, Stevo. I hope the snow doesn’t hold things up for you.
By the way, had an interesting search engine term lately: “Mrs. Stevo’s feet”

Bill: Nice to see you again.
Geoff: Those would be my choices of activities if I wasn’t in transit.Living in China I have lost my sense of fun relating to the snow day.
Robin: The snow will not hold me up. I will fight it with every fibre of my being. Okay, a touch dramatic…

UPDATE
I’m risking the 18:20 bus from Coventry to London. I hope this trip doesn’t result in a bus load of passengers being stranded in the English countryside, and resulting to cannibalism.

The pre-trip calorie burning workout machine Sgt. York I know would not let a little white powder deter him and he sure wouldn’t use a BBC image of the snow.
What the hell was in those bangers and mash anyway?

That’s the spirit, Stevo! Snow calls for determination and a little of the dramatic. Or melodramatic, as the case may be.
Good luck and don’t give up the fight.

Ron: I have some photos of Mrs. Stevo playing in the snow – wasn’t quite the image I had in mind. I think the bangers and mash contained concentrated laziness.
Robin: Yes, quite.

Robin: LOL. “Mrs. Stevo’s feet” I get a lot of those from Google.
I hope you get to London OK coz I am wanting to see the photos at some point! Be careful S.

I would eat the hot dogs! I don’t eat meat so they’d be such a treat to me!
Take care and I’m rooting for you to make it where you need to be when you need to be there!

How bizarre we’re two ships passing etc – I didn’t make it to Coventry today but need to tomorrow so I can get a flight – fingers crossed for us both!

I’ve been lax in answering comments:
LFC: Yes, Hotdogs. In China they are called Crispy Dogs, and they are quite crispy. Not nice.
Expatriate Games: Don’t worry, the photos are forthcoming.
Corina: I am, and I will.
QR: Strange world, this.
Wanda: Really?
Carrie: So true. I do not like snow.
yb: Merci.
Aisles thought it was rare that London got snow, but when I heard they got close to 12 inches, I had to look for some photographs. Thanks for sharing!!
Couldn’t agree more with Itinerant Geoff. Any excuse NOT to go to work is taken with whole heartedness by us. By 10am I had called work, checked that my road was suitably ‘snowy’ to warrant ‘not risking it’ with a sharp intake of breath and then down the park with some mates for snowballs etc!!!
We could cope with the snow, we just don’t want to!!
