Beijing Airport: Ropes and Squeeges

on

Image of workers cleaning the roof at Beijing Capital International Airport

My last shot from Beijing. As I arrived at the airport I discovered this group, cleaning Beijing’s endemic dirt from the glass roof of a terminal building. As nonchalantly as I could, I pulled out my camera and captured a few frames. I was more worried shooting at Beijing Capital International Airport than I was shooting in Tiananmen Square. Time in an airport detention cell would have ruined a great trip.

That said, security did seize my shaving cream. That’s probably now in my file. Damn Gillette: Your Mach III blades are two expensive and now you have caused me to be labeled a security risk! I wonder: Could I get my face waxed instead?

Ron: Weird because your comment didn’t show up? I think that’s WP Super Cache, I need to look into that. I don’t need to shave, I like the Sonny Crockett 5 day stubble look.

Matt: Yes, a great way. There is an international razor blade conspiracy, I’ll get to the bottom of it. I bet the Freemasons are involved.

  6. Josh says:

How much you want to bet you spent more on those razor blades than these men have in insurance coverage? 🙂

    Great pic, Stevo.

It always amazes me to see people hanging off slick glass surfaces by nothing but a rope.

  9. I think there is a joke to insert after Carrie’s comment but I am not exactly sure what it is…

Nice catch Stevo, hope you had a good time buddy.

Josh: No bet. The comments – I’m trying to figure out WP Super Cache. I hope I can get it fixed soon.

Carrie: Spiderman didn’t need a rope.

Michael: A good time was had by all. More soon.

“It always amazes me to see people hanging off slick glass surfaces by nothing but a rope.” sounds like a line from Mad Libs, just use a location and a noun Mike –

“It always amazes me to see people hanging off the St. Louis Arch by nothing but a Dick Cheney fan letter.”

    Sorry Carrie… 🙂

I love the picture. And btw, I think you should have your face waxed and sell the photo rights. You’d make a bundle!

Corina: I will consider that. Would the pain be worth the $s?

If you had read the air travel guidelines your shaving cream would be safe at home, dear man.

Very cool catch, but it makes my tummy ache.

Shawn: Yes, but not all the same Homeland Security rules apply in different parts of the world. One airport cleared it after inspection, one didn’t. A reason to stop shaving, I guess. I wouldn’t not want that job.

  16. mike says:

Not a job if you are afraid of heights like I am. Pretty brave guys.

  17. Robin says:

Great shot! I wouldn’t want to be one of those guys. I’d probably freeze in fear and end up living up there.

    Waxing is painful. Just saying.
