
Have cart, will travel. A cobbler on a busy sidewalk in Shenzhen, China, repairs shoes while you wait. Shoes are cheap in China. The cheapness is reflected in their need for repair. I think Mrs. Stevo’s record is 5 hours from purchase to cobbler. Of course, that hasn’t stopped her shoe-buying obsession. Chinese women are the same as their western counterparts.
Hmph! I have four pairs of shoes. (Which I think is two pair below poverty level in most American households.)
He looks equipped with modern tools. In India one can see tailors, Presswala (a person to iron your clothes), fruit & vegetable vendors doing brisk business moving around the neighbourhood. Cobblers are generally seen with only hand held tools.
Shawn: That seems incredibly sensible. I have (maybe) five pairs, of which I wear two regularly.
